Glenwood man wanted for child pornography

Glenwood Springs police are seeking 30-year-old David Edward Kennedy, for whom they have an arrest warrant for sexual exploitation of children and car theft.

Investigators recently received information leading them to believe that Kennedy might be involved in child pornography, Chief Terry Wilson said Monday. Kennedy was recently released from an Oklahoma prison, where he was serving a sentence for child pornography charges.

Officers executed a search warrant at his home and seized some electronic devices. Forensic investigators are analyzing these devices, though no evidence has been obtained from them yet, said the chief.

Kennedy, 5-foot-9 and weighing 180 pounds, was arrested at the time of the search for failure to register as a sex offender, and he got out of jail in only a couple of days.

A woman living with Kennedy noticed on Feb. 15 that Kennedy and her minivan were missing. She reported this to police on Feb. 17, said Wilson.

On Sunday, law enforcement in Grand Junction spotted the vehicle, a burgundy 1998 Ford Windstar minivan, license plate 584-PXN, with a man believed to be Kennedy behind the wheel.

He sped away from officers, who eventually broke off the chase. It was not clear in what direction he was travelling, but he might have been fleeing the state, said Wilson.

All indications so far have been that he was involved in downloading child pornography from the internet, not producing it, said Wilson.
