Glenwood crash victim identified

GLENWOOD SPRINGS ” The motorist who was killed Sunday in a crash on County Road 117, or Four Mile Road, in Glenwood Springs has been identified as a 34-year-old California man.

Shane Eric Minyard, the driver of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Minyard was driving a Buick sedan when it left the road, rolled down an enbankment and came to rest on its wheels, partially in a creek. The accident occurred at about 4:45 p.m., according to the patrol. Authorities don’t know whether he was wearing a seatbelt or not.

A passenger in the car left the scene and was later taken into custody by Garfield County sheriff’s deputies on outstanding warrants. He was not identified in a state patrol press release.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Alcohol and speed are considered factors in the accident, according to the patrol.
