Glenwood Canyon bike path closed

Aspen Times Staff Report
Aspen, CO Colorado

GLENWOOD SPRINGS ” The rising Colorado River forced state transportation officials to close the Glenwood Canyon Bike Path Thursday.

The path is closed between Shoshone Power Plant on the west and Hanging Lake Rest Area on the east because there is water on the path and high water is predicted in the days, and possibly, weeks to come, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The path runs alongside the river in the canyon, immediately east of Glenwood Springs, and temporary spring closures during high water are not uncommon.

The path had opened for the season on April 20. It will reopen when runoff on the river subsides.
