Give us back our sorter

(This letter was originally addressed to Ellis Burgoyne, the Denver postmaster.)

You can only solve Aspen’s postal problems if you know about them, so I want to alert you to the fact that it recently took 10 DAYS for a piece of mail to be sent from the Aspen Business Center to a residence in downtown Aspen, having the same zip code. I am told that similar delays are not uncommon and that businesses frequently suffer this inconvenience.

It is my understanding that Aspen mail is sorted in Denver or Glenwood Springs, and that mail often takes an unacceptable amount of time due to the fact that the mail sorter was removed from the Aspen post office.



Please, before the Christmas crunch, return the mail sorter to Aspen so that we are not at the mercy of other towns to sort our mail, causing inconvenient delays. Thank you for your prompt attention to this need.
