Give me your best shot

Dear Editor:

It’s just plain nauseating to watch the dog-and-pony show going on in Washington and elsewhere on so-called gun control. These ignorant, blustering officials are looking to get their faces in front of a camera so they can trumpet “save our children.”

They don’t know what the heck they’re talking about, and they ignore anyone who actually does. But, by God, they’re going to solve random acts of homicide with firearms once and for all.

I’d be good with their attempts, be it handgun bans, high-capacity magazines, gun-free zones and on and on, on the following condition: All they have to do is give me a guarantee these controls will eliminate violence with weapons – just that simple.

But I would ask an additional guarantee: As soon as we determine that these didn’t work (should be pretty quick, based on past experience), those who voted for them will be fired on the spot. I don’t care if they are senators, representatives, governors or mayors.

No severance, no pension, no unemployment compensation. And no armed security.

That’s not asking too much, is it?
