Give Kole a chance

Dear Editor:

I am a member of the CCLC and in a meeting this year we were due to elect a new chairperson. Andrew Kole expressed his interest in becoming our new chair and frankly, I had hesitation in voting for him initially. My pause was mainly due to Andrew being in town for so many years and fearing his sometimes strong opinions would dominate our small group. The vote was anonymous, so I was in no way pressured and my instincts told me to give Andrew a chance as a leader.

I am happy to report that Andrew has surprised me many ways. Andrew’s leadership brings calm, organization and direction to our passion fueled board. Andrew has contributed wisdom, dizzying knowledge and levity to our group also.

Andrew takes Aspen very seriously, yet I am pleased to announce he has shown a humility and an open mindedness that I found surprising. It’s nice to know that someone who could have become an impatient “know-it-all” has patience for really considering fresh new ideas while still having a bedrock of experience as to what he believes will or will not work for this town.
