Give furs new life

Dear Editor:

Do you have an old fur coat that you don’t want or that is taking too much space in your closet? Put it to good use by donating it to the U.S. Coats for Cubs program of the Humane Society.

Furs are sent to wildlife rehabilitation centers, where they are cut up and put in enclosures holding bobcats, foxes, raccoons, squirrels or rabbits. The furry blankets become surrogate mothers to orphaned animals.

To donate a fur, place it in a sturdy box and mail it to: The Humane Society of the United States, 2100 St. N.W., Washington, D.C., 20037, attn: Coats for Cubs. The HSUS accepts all fur apparel and fur accessories. For more information, contact or call (301) 721-6434.
