Get wise to our snowpack’s danger

I hope many people read last week’s article on the developing dangerous snowpack in the West. Those who got to the last paragraph learned that once again Colorado has had more avalanche deaths than any other state.

This is not a coincidence nor unexpected, since there are factors in the Colorado environment that dictate the danger, but not necessarily the results.

On Jan. 10 and 11 Mountain Rescue-Aspen is presenting its annual Avalanche Awareness Workshop. For $25 you can start or continue your education on winter backcountry safety.

The workshop is this Friday at 6 p.m. at the St. Regis Hotel and Saturday on Aspen Mountain. Look for our posters and newspaper ads for more information. Tell your buddies and we will see you there.
