Get ready for next vote
November 3, 2005
In the wake of an indictment of Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff that is perhaps not receiving the proper level of media attention that it should, considering the grave nature of the crime, it’s particularly distressing that President Bush is now insulting our nation with the Supreme Court nomination of a man so staunch in his conservatism, his nickname is “Scalito.”
Many of the criminals responsible for this unjustified war are sitting as free men at their desks in Washington today, and now our just-barely balanced Supreme Court is threatened to be tipped to the far right with the replacement of Sandra Day O’Connor with an anti-environment, anti-social program, pro-life ideologue.
This past election day we had the chance to make a statement against the Washington machine and protect our valley as a haven of sanity. It’s the foundation of democracy itself ” citizens that are self-informed, community involved and dissenters in times of injustice ” that will carry us through the remaining three Bush years. If you didn’t vote Nov. 1, now is the time to start preparing for the next election, and a good place to start is GoVoteColorado.com or FairVoteColorado.org. Many of us only get out to our polling stations every four years (or even less); what few realize is the immense power these local elections hold for the fate of our future as a nation.
