Georgia Grace Gibsone

Georgia Grace Orcutt was born on December, 13th 1988 in Dallas, Texas to Allen and Barbara Orcutt. She moved to Glenwood Springs, Colorado with her parents and her brother, Andre Orcutt, in the summer of 1998. It was there in the tiny community of No Name, Colorado, nestled in Glenwood Canyon, where her family truly grew together and her love for Colorado became paramount.

Georgia attended grade school through high school in Glenwood Springs, and could be found floating down the Colorado River, snowboarding Sunlight and Aspen and serving patrons at Sacred Grounds. This is where Georgia’s ability to create appetizing masterpieces began. You may also remember her zipping around town in her little yellow car full of friends and energetic music.

Georgia lived in Breckenridge, Colorado from 2005 to 2009 where she attended Colorado Mountain College. She met lifelong friends, adopted her dog Mr. Wilson, and continued to hone her culinary skills at many of Breck’s celebrated establishments. She then returned back home to the Roaring Fork Valley in 2010, taking up residence in Aspen.

It was in Aspen where she met her husband, Scotty Gibsone, while working at renowned L’Hostaria restaurant. They married on July 21, 2014, and again on February 29, 2016, just because they could. They both lived, loved and laughed together until the present.

Georgia was truly a local celebrity in Aspen. She was loved by all who knew her. She had an infectious smile and laughter and ability to connect with anyone at any time. Most knew her as the bubbly bartender, waitress, and chef at various places in Aspen. Some of the places she worked during her time there were The Highlands Ale House, L’Hostaria, Anderson Ranch, and The Little Nell.

Georgia had a love for photography, music, painting, meeting people during her travels abroad, rafting and animals, particularly her loyal Border Collie, Mr. Wilson. Georgia and Scotty spent many of their days rafting through tough rivers and canyons. Nevertheless, experiencing life’s bounty. She also spent many days at The End of the Road Ranch in New Castle where she worked as a ranch hand while priming her photography skills. This was her sanctuary of the past decade. She would often go there to escape and be at peace with the horses, animals, nature, and of course, her faithful Mr. Wilson.

Much like her parents’ sweet tooth to peanut M&M’s, you could always find Skittles wrappers and cans of Dr. Pepper wherever she went. Georgia is survived by her husband Scotty, brother Andre and his fiancée Deonnah, sisters Amy and Ashley, nieces Logan and Estella, and nephews Nils, Boden, and Hunter. Additionally, her Uncle David Floria and cousins Jake, Jessie, Jamie, and Denny.

Georgia’s memorial service will be held at L’Hostaria in Aspen, Colorado on June 1st, 2019.
