Generous community

Aspen Times writer

Dear Editor:As the tournament manager for RH Crossland’s Vince Gill/Amy Grant Snowmass Club Charity Classic, a PGA pro/celebrity golf tournament benefiting Challenge Aspen and Aspen Junior Golf, I feel compelled to write about the generosity of the valley’s businesses and the hearts of the people here. This is the first golf event that Challenge Aspen has hosted, and our response from this community was overwhelming! The compassion and dedication of the people here amazed and humbled me throughout the planning and execution of this event. With more than 100 volunteers, including staff from the Snowmass Club, volunteers from Aspen Junior Golf, volunteers from our own organization and individuals in the community who have never volunteered before, we were fortunate enough to realize success in this year’s tournament.A little less than a year ago, I moved here from New Orleans and joined the Challenge Aspen team in its fundraising efforts. While raising funds in an area filled with nonprofits and wonderful causes, the ease of rallying the support of such a giving community is a true blessing. To all of the volunteers of the Snowmass Club Charity Classic, thank you for helping two extraordinary causes fulfill their mission!”We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” – Winston ChurchillAlisa Tillungtournament manager
