GARFIELD COUNTY Larry Corbus has a singular focus: to find the perfect executive library director. He’s the man behind the Ohio-based Corbus Library Consultants, a company that specializes in finding directors for small and midlevel library districts. The same company Garfield County Public Library District has hired to search for its new library district director.Wilma Paddock, business manager for the library district, said the cutoff for applications was Aug. 10. The district hopes to interview three to five candidates in mid-September. The goal was to get 30 to 40 applicants, but it was unclear how many had come in.Corbus Library Consultants promises to come up with a qualified pool of candidates and highlights the three to five it thinks are the most qualified. Paddock said Corbus Library Consultants services are costing the district a little less than $20,000. Hiring a consultant frees up time for the board and should ensure a quality search is done. The director is employed by the library district board and carries out the administration of the board’s policy decisions.
