Frommer settles with babysitter

Aspen Times Staff Report
Aspen, CO Colorado

ASPEN ” Peter Frommer has agreed to a $5,000 settlement with Patricia Smyth, the Boulder babysitter to whom he owes for services in 2006 and 2007.

In March 2007, Frommer lost a civil judgment for $7,382 and since then has paid Smyth $900. In a status conference on Wednesday, Frommer informed Judge Fernandez Ely of the settlement.

Smyth, who participated by phone, agreed to the settlement and final payment by fund transfer by July 31.

The judge, however, was more skeptical.

Frommer missed a court appearance in Aspen in early June, but showed up later, and has consistently left payments to the last minute.

“I’m going to keep my fingers crossed,” Ely said. “As delightful as this may be, it’s getting old.”

Frommer also faces more than 30 felony charges, including a handful of check-fraud claims, in connection with a trip to Aspen in the winter of 2006-’07.

Frommer, who now lives in Aspen full-time, is scheduled for a motions hearing on his felony charges in September and a trial in December.
