Freedom guaranteed by its defenders
August 30, 2005
Dear Editor: Faced with the final decision of being burned alive by a jet fuel-fed fire or plunging 90 stories to the streets of lower Manhattan, would you have considered your American freedom to be bereft of threat from terrorists, Ms. Gray?Whether you wish to acknowledge it or not, our freedoms are not guaranteed but rather simply enumerated in the Constitution of the United States. Our freedoms are guaranteed only by the actions and sacrifice of those who have chosen to defend them. Ryan CharlandRye, N.H.
