Free climate-change discussion tonight
August 7, 2012
The community is cordially invited to a free public lecture hosted by the Aspen Global Change Institute titled “After Rio+20: Science and Governance for Our Future Earth.” The lecture will take place at 6:30 p.m. today at the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (100 Puppy Smith St. in Aspen).
This event will look at the state of the planet following the most recent United Nations environmental summit in Rio de Janeiro in June and the role of science in informing solutions in the decade to come.
Diana Liverman, a professor of geography and development at the University of Arizona, recently participated in the Rio conference and will deliver the talk. She will give highlights from her experience at the meeting and share her perspective on the future role of science and international policy in response to global environmental issues such as climate change.
A wine-and-cheese reception will follow the talk. We hope to see you there!
