Forget the editorializing and have some fun

As a volunteer for Basalt River Days I am offended by The Aspen Times’ version of our festival. While looking at Monday’s paper I could not help but notice that the only photograph of the Basalt River Days Festival was that of a dog looking out of someone’s coat. Now the dog was cute I agree, however, what did it have to do with the parade or the festival itself?

Then there was the bizarre editorial by Mr. Harvey. His Izod shirts vs. cowboys vs. dreadlocks vs. Mountain Fair vs. River Days vs. Carbondale vs. Basalt, read like some sort of high school newspaper. Mr. Harvey, just to set the record straight, Basalt River Days has never aspired to be like Carbondale Mountain Fair. Both are wonderful festivals created to bring people together to have fun.

Apparently you were a bit too busy versing everyone and everything to notice. Here’s a hot tip, leave your paper and pencil at home for the Jazz Fest and just have some fun! Oh and by the way, both Nina Storey and Buckwheat really enjoyed our little festival! Rain or shine!
