Flower power

Dear Editor:

I agree with Wendy Smith’s recent letter in which she compares the summer flowers in Aspen to those in Vail. Unfortunately, with a few notable exceptions, Aspen comes off a poor second in that match. The comments about the lights over the winter are also “right on.”

With all of the expenditures that our city council makes, can we not afford to make the roundabout at the town’s entry more beautiful? The lit trees in the winter are great but in the summer, what could be gorgeous with flowers and shrubs is a tangle of weeds.

Someone really cares for the roundabout in Basalt, which would be worth copying.
