Fish for free this weekend in Colorado

Aspen Times Staff Report
Aspen, CO Colorado

DENVER ” The Colorado Division of Wildlife announced Wednesday that anglers get to fish for free this weekend.

That means no license is required to fish on Saturday and Sunday. The promotion is a part of “Colorado’s Free Fishing Days.”

The idea is to encourage people to give fishing a try.

While the requirement for a license is waived for the weekend, other regulations are in force, including how many fish an angler can keep and bait restrictions.

The rest of the year, anglers between the ages of 16 and 64 must have a license to fish.

An annual resident license costs $31, while an annual non-resident license costs $61. One- and five-day licenses are also available.

The state has more than 2,000 lakes, ponds and reservoirs. There are also more than 10,000 miles of streams and rivers in Colorado, according to the Division of Wildlife.
