Firefighters need your vote

Dear Editor:A couple of Sundays ago, my husband and I went to get some dinner and visit a favorite bartender Paul, at Takah Sushi. During our meal, a gentleman sitting behind us became unwell. Now my husband and Paul are both members of the Aspen Volunteer Fire Department, and First Responder medically trained. Their quick actions and caring for this individual was impressive. We should all be proud of these members of our community who have spent so much of their time volunteering to keep us well and safe. Now these volunteers will be asking for your vote this May 2 in order to rebuild the Hopkins site in downtown Aspen. This new fire station will include the Thrift Shop as well as have a space for an ambulance. A satellite station at North 40 is also included, which will not only provide service to outlying areas but will also provide room for important wildfire apparatus. Both these sites have support of the Aspen Civic Master Plan as well as the COWOP process. Please support this important bond issue. Absentee ballots can be picked up at the fire station and voting is May 2, again at the Aspen Volunteer Fire Department.Yasmine de PagterAspen
