Firefighters battle blaze in Thomasville

Aspen Times Staff Report
Aspen, CO Colorado

THOMASVILLE ” Firefighters from the Basalt fire department and its Thomasville satellite station battled a house fire that was reported shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday, deputy fire chief Jerry Peetz said.

The fire was reported in a residence a short distance from the Thomasville fire station, roughly 22 miles east of Basalt in the Fryingpan River Valley. An engine from Thomasville was on the scene soon after the blaze started, and fire engines and crews scrambled from Basalt for the long, twisty drive to the scene.

Details were difficult to obtain Wednesday night because of limited radio contact between Thomasville and Basalt.

The extent of the damage from the fire wasn’t available as of press time Wednesday evening.

No information was available on possible injuries, although the original call did not seek medical assistance.
