Fire south of Glenwood officially history

The Red Canyon fire south of Glenwood Springs is history.

By midafternoon Monday, the fire in juniper and pinion pine was listed as controlled and the last crew was released from the scene.

The fire started just after 2 p.m. Friday, July 17. Based on GPS mapping of the fire’s perimeter, the fire is estimated to have burned 7.2 acres.



Fire officials have confirmed that lightning started fire.

Nothing was damaged, and no one was hurt.
