Fire damages Basalt apartment building

BASALT – A fire broke out in an 11-unit apartment complex at 4959 Fryingpan Road about 8:30 p.m. Friday, according to authorities.

Smoke and fire damaged about half of the complex, authorities said. Details on the extent of the damage weren’t available at press time. Firefighters from Carbondale and Aspen assisted the Basalt Fire Department.

The fire also affected a power line and kept a significant portion of the Fryingpan Valley in the dark.
