Feeling blessed

Dear Editor:

We would like to thank the entire community for the incredible outpouring of support that has been displayed over the past two months, following the unexpected death of our wife and mother Mary (Muffie) Holloran. We are truly blessed to be a part of the Roaring Fork family.

Mary worked for the school district in the midvalley for 10 years ” the last six as the music teacher at Basalt Elementary. She was truly dedicated to the children under her tutelage and strongly supported the idea that a solid music program in our schools is a necessity, not a luxury.

Special thanks to the Taste of Basalt, which has generously established a $500 scholarship in Mary’s name. The award will go each year to a deserving fourth grader at BES who wishes to continue participating in the music program at the middle school. The money may be used toward private lessons, the purchase of an instrument, etc. Our hearts also go out to the faculty, parents and students at BES who held a tribute to Mary and dedicated a beautiful wooden bench, located just outside the school’s music room.

And, finally, we would like to give a loving tip of the hat to the many friends who have showered us with cards, flowers, food, phone calls and donations to Lift-Up. It is an honor to call this place our home.

Pat, Nick and Dan Holloran
