February real estate sales more than double in Pitkin County

ASPEN – Pitkin County saw $115.9 million in total real estate sales in February, more than double the amount tallied in the same month last year, according to a report issued Friday by Land Title Guarantee Co.

Aspen set the pace with $97.5 million in sales, Snowmass Village registered $9 million, Old Snowmass $3.4 million, Woody Creek $871,481, and Basalt $730,000. Intervals accounted for $4.4 million in sales, the report said.

Meanwhile, the average single-family home in Pitkin County through February sold for $5.57 million, an increase of 28 percent from all of 2010. However, the median single-family home price was $2.55 in that same period, a decrease of 20 percent compared to 2010.



Fifty transactions in February, led by 19 in Aspen, marked an 8 percent improvement over February 2010. February’s dollar amount in transactions was 136 percent better than February 2010, the report said.

Year-to-date transactions total 128 – 35 percent more than the same two months last year.




Data also shows that for the first two months of 2011, Pitkin County saw $200 million in sales, an increase of 91.5 percent over the same two months last year.
