Father O’Brien bids farewell to St. Mary
Dear Editor:
As many are learning, St. Mary Catholic Church will soon be saying farewell to Fr. Michael O’Brien, its pastor for the last eight years. As one of St. Mary’s longest assigned pastors in recent decades, Fr. O’Brien’s presence will be sorely missed as many have enjoyed his humor, wit and genuine care for those entrusted to his spiritual direction.
Fr. O’Brien’s reassignment comes at a time where he is also addressing some health issues and will therefore begin his next assignment with a six-month health sabbatical while in residence at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lakewood, Colo.
As an expression of our gratitude for his many years of selfless service to the parishioners of St. Mary’s and in farewell as he assumes his next assignment, St. Mary’s is holding a parish BBQ potluck lunch at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 5. Those who attend are asked to bring a side dish, salad or dessert.
Please stop by and join the parishioners of St. Mary’s in bidding farewell to a faithful and generous servant of Jesus Christ.
