Fantasy land

Aspen Times writer

Dear Editor:So RFTA needs more money to complete the valleywide trail (“Valleywide trail dream going nowhere fast,” July 20 Aspen Times). Very interesting. Are these the same folks who turned down $900,000 for all of the old, obsolete, junk rail that will never, ever be used again?Their decision was so stupid it would be funny if it weren’t so sad. Because the steel scrap market is at an all-time high, this was a chance to have a solid company remove this junk at their expense, pay us nearly a million dollars of much needed revenue, and pave a nice trail to boot! And RFTA turned them down to keep a “place marker” for a railroad that ain’t gonna happen. This surely is fantasy land.Jerry EpsteinAspen
