ASPEN – Starting next week, the city of Aspen will alter its city bus schedule and parking rules for the fall offseason.

Free parking on Saturdays goes into effect Sept. 8. Parking is always free on Sundays and holidays; paid parking remains in effect Monday through Friday.

City buses operate on a fall schedule from Sept. 4 through Nov. 21. During this period, the Castle-Maroon, Cemetery Lane, Hunter Creek and Mountain Valley routes will operate approximately between 7 a.m. and midnight except on Sundays, when the buses will run from about 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Cross Town Shuttle will suspend service Sept. 3. The Cross Town and Galena Street shuttles begin winter service on Nov. 22 (the Galena shuttle only operates in the winter).

During the offseason, High Mountain Taxi will provide free late-night service from Rubey Park to any city of Aspen bus stop on Fridays and Saturdays. Service will be available every half hour from 12:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.

The valleywide commuter bus service operated by the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority will switch to its fall schedule Sept. 4. Valley buses run with reduced frequency on nights and weekends during the offseason and the Woody Creek bus will cease service until winter.
