Expect more of a leader

When I feel strongly that a policy is right, I pick and choose what facts and whose opinions to listen to. For example, despite the women leaders who have backed violent policies over the years, as a feminist, I continue to follow those who claim women leaders would create a more peaceful world.

I believe that one year ago President Bush acted similarly. Feeling strongly for various reasons that a pre-emptive war with Iraq was necessary and correct, he picked and chose his facts and opinions accordingly.

But shouldn’t we expect the leader of the free world to be a cut above us ordinary mortals in weighing his options and taking action, particularly when so many precious lives ” young and old, of all colors and creeds ” are at stake?
