Everybody needs an ‘Emma’

Dear Editor:What a wonderful story and tribute to Emma Monte (Saturday, June 18), the day after her 98th birthday.I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Emma for the past several years through the Pet Enrichment Therapy program run by Rita Cohen. Emma is truly a remarkable woman and a role model for remaining positive and happy. Fraser and I look so forward to hearing Emma tell us about her life, her family and her joys. My mother, who lives in California, is a professional artist. She and Emma have become friends over the phone and send each other drawings back and forth. It’s a very special connection and perhaps someday they will meet. I hope everyone has an “Emma” in their lives.Jill and Fraser SheeleyAspen
