Event will honor military women
Women living and visiting the Aspen area are invited to attend an evening of appreciation for 12 women from the U.S. military at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Mountain Chalet in Aspen.
The women to be honored for their service are participating in the Challenge Aspen Military Opportunities 2013 Women’s Treat. The participants have suffered military sexual trauma, brain injuries or physical injuries during their service. Some are still on active duty while others are veterans.
The week-long retreat from today through Friday will get them on the ski slopes and offer various activities that will help promote wellness, personal empowerment and life skills.
The appreciation night will feature a group greeting of the participants at 5 p.m. followed by hors d’oeuvres and interviews of some of the participants by event organizer Ann Abernethy. The event will be held in the Mountain View Room on the 5th floor.
The event is for women only. Those planning to attend are asked to send a thank you note to the military women. The notes will be compiled in a booklet and presented to the honorees. The notes can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
A donation of any amount will be requested for Challenge Aspen Military Opportunities.
