EvaLyn Marie Baker died Sunday, Dec. 18, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction following an automobile accident. She was 18 years old.

She was born on July 6, 1987, to James A. Baker Sr. and Tereasa Marie (Koch) Baker in Puyallup, Wash. She was a student at Yampa Mountain High School, and had completed her requirements for her diploma, which will be awarded posthumously in the spring. She worked for local attorney Ted Hess while attending school and caring for her son, Bryan, who was the love of her life. She was a dedicated mother and the joy of her family and friends.

EvaLyn is survived by her son, Bryan Anthony Baker, 19 months; her father, James A. Baker Sr. and his wife, Sandy, of Aspen; her mother, Tereasa M. (Koch) Baker of Glenwood Springs; her brothers, Cpl. James A. Baker Jr. of the U.S. Marine Corps and Benjamin L. Baker; her sister Cpl. Cassandra Baker of the U.S. Marine Corps; her grandparents, James Baker of Oregon City, Ore., and Laurn and Sandra Koch of Ridgefield, Wash.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, at Mountain View Church of Glenwood Springs, 2195 CR 154. The Rev. David Pearson will officiate. A reception will follow upon the completion of the graveside service, at Yampa Mountain High School, 695 Red Mountain Drive in Glenwood Springs. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Farnum-Holt Funeral Home Chapel, 405 W. Seventh St. in Glenwood Springs.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to one of two memorial funds set up at Alpine Bank of Glenwood Springs: EvaLyn Baker Memorial Fund for Bryan Baker, or EvaLyn Baker memorial expense account.
