Eugene James Jackson

Eugene James Jackson, 68, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at home in Cedaredge.

He was born March 27, 1940, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Joseph and Ann Haggerty Jackson.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era, and attained the rank of AMS3 (E-4).

He married Maria Abarca March 5, 1979, in Glenwood Springs. In his younger years, he worked in the movie industry for Universal Studios, and then was employed as a sheet metal worker for many years.

From the Carbondale and Aspen area, he moved to Cedaredge, and was a resident there for the last 15 years. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including both water and snow skiing, golfing, fishing and tennis.

He is survived by his wife; sons Eric (Catherine) Jackson of Carbondale, Dennis (Adela) Jackson of Cedaredge; grandchildren Jacquelyn Johnson of Rifle, Kevin Long of Para chute, Rodney Long of Rifle, Gabriel and Yolanda Rosales of Parachute, Dennis Jackson Jr. of Cedaredge, Katherine Villafranco of Cedaredge; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter; one sister; and two brothers. A visitation was held Feb. 21 at Mesa View Mortuary in Delta. Please sign the memory tribute and view the obituary on-line at
