Empty requests

Dear Editor:

I am writing in response to David Behr’s letter to the editor on Oct. 31, suggesting that we request organic whole foods from our current grocers. I would think this was a great idea, if I saw evidence that the grocers follow through on requests.

I have submitted three such requests to the City Market in El Jebel and have not received so much as a phone call in response. The items certainly have not appeared on the shelves. I am pretty sure those requests go straight into the circular file. Now don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t stop me from fantasizing, and every time I fill out one of those forms, I get VERY excited! I highly recommend it for therapy. For all the good it does, though, you might want to consider appending your letter to Santa Claus instead. (I also write to Santa on a regular basis.)
