Elvis Costello to perform Aspen benefit concert in June

ASPEN – Food & Wine magazine will serve up a side dish of music at its Food & Wine Classic in Aspen in June. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the event, Food & Wine will present a benefit concert by Elvis Costello on June 16 at the Aspen Music Festival’s Benedict Music Tent.The event will include a dinner on the lawn outside the tent with food prepared by chefs Jos Andrs, Mario Batali and Michel Nischan, all of whom are featured at the Food & Wine Classic. There will be wines from the Gallo Signature Series and beer from Stella Artois.Tickets for the event go on sale at 10 a.m. today and are available at http://www.foodandwine.com/classic or 877-900-WINE. Tickets are $350, with proceeds going to Chefs Make Change, a Food & Wine initiative aimed at supporting farmers and fighting hunger. A portion of the proceeds also will go to each chef’s designated charity.Costello’s band for the event, the Blue Beguilers, is a one-time lineup of drummer Pete Thomas and bassist Davey Faragher, both members of his regular group the Imposters, plus guitarist John McFee, who played on Costello’s 1977 debut album, “My Aim Is True.”Costello, a native of London, has released some 30 albums, spanning punk, country, jazz and classical styles. In 2003 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Elvis Costello & the Attractions.
