Elks scholarship means a lot

Dear Editor:I would like to publicly thank the members of Aspen Elks Lodge 224 for my college scholarship. It seems like just the other day I was a little girl with my dad at the Aspen Elks Lodge running around, learning how to hold a cue stick. Thirteen years later, however, I still haven’t forgotten them, and they haven’t forgotten me.I cannot be more thankful for the scholarship that was given to me by the Elks Club. This money will aid my college expenses immensely, and I am so grateful for that. Because of their scholarship, I can graduate college with a special education degree, without a huge debt hanging over my head. Now, I believe college will be more enjoyable rather than stressful! The Elks Club is like family to me and has been since I was a little squirt annoying the heck out of pool players and my dad’s friends. I looked to the Elks for support and help and, just like a family, that is exactly what they gave me. I am forever thankful for their assistance to my future. Thanks especially to Fred Brooks, Brian O’Neal, and Gary Quist for being on the scholarship committee.I promise always to keep in touch and to make their choice of choosing me as a scholarship recipient worth all the effort. Thanks a million!Sophie MortonClass of 2005Aspen
