Elizabeth Mary Otte Jones

Elizabeth Mary Otte Jones, an Aspen resident since the 1950s, died peacefully in her hospital bed in Santa Barbara, Calif., on Sept 19.

Elizabeth Jones was a registered nurse, and she invested generously in the lives and businesses of her friends in Aspen, including Quadrant Books, the Edelweiss, the Sardy House and the Hotel Lenado.

Elizabeth, daughter of W. Alton Jones, president of City Services N.Y., is survived by her son, Peter Otte; her extended family and many loving Aspen friends.

She was a generous stabilizing, healing force. Elizabeth’s empathetic, giving and compassionate spirit is an uplifting example for us all to honor and emulate.

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children … to leave the world a better place … to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
