Election polling open until 5 p.m. tonight; from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow

Election polling will be open in Aspen until 5 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday with access to two voting centers.

Voters can drop off ballots or submit their decisions in person today at Aspen City Hall, and tomorrow at the Red Brick Building or Aspen City Hall. City Clerk Linda Manning said unregistered voters are encouraged to register with the Pitkin County clerk before appearing at the Red Brick or City Hall to vote.

As of Friday, 1,513 people had cast ballots, with 82 early voters, 687 mail-in ballots and 744 in-person ballots. Aspen’s previous municipal election in 2013 saw 2,288 people vote, or 35.7 percent of 6,401 registered voters.

Crews respond to chimney fire in Snowmass Village

A chimney fire on Ridge Road was the source of a visible plume of smoke in Snowmass Village Sunday morning, according to Kevin Issel, the incident commander and deputy chief at Roaring Fork Fire Rescue Authority.
