Longtime Aspen resident Earl Schennum died Aug. 12 at his home in Pauma Valley, Calif. from cancer.
Earl was a pilot who also enjoyed skiing, playing tennis, golfing and hockey. He built and operated the Ullr Lodge in Aspen for many years and was a member of the Elks. Surviving him is his wife of 59 years, Carol, and daughter, Debbie.

Pitkin County administrators are proposing a more than $142 million budget for 2020, which is about $6 million less than this year because of fewer construction projects and capital improvements.
