Eagle County to start review of subdivision proposed in El Jebel
The Eagle County commissioners will begin their review Tuesday of The Fields, a subdivision proposed along Valley Road across Highway 82 from Blue Lake.
The commissioners will start their review with a site visit at 4 p.m. at 554 Valley Road in El Jebel. A public hearing will follow at 4:45 p.m. at the Eagle County office building next to Crown Mountain Park.
The Fields application is for as many as 110 residences on 19 acres of mostly vacant land. The developers are proposing to include 24 to 27 affordable housing units. The proposal is for a mix of single-family homes, duplexes and apartments.
The current zoning is for one residential unit per 2 acres. The developer asked for rezoning that would allow 5.6 units per acre.
The Roaring Fork Valley Regional Planning Commission voted 4-1 in December to recommend denial of the project. The commission is an advisory board for the county commissioners on land use issues in the Roaring Fork Valley portion of the county.
The commissioners are starting a sketch plan review, the first step in the county’s subdivision process. The application is available for review at Eagle County’s Planning Department website under the “active files” link. Comments can be emailed to planningcomments@eaglecounty.us.
