ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. – A 62-year-old Durango man hiking near the summit of Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park has died.

Park officials say the man was about 110 yards from the top of the 14,259-foot mountain when he had heart trouble Monday morning. They say bystanders performed CPR on him for about a half hour.

His name hasn’t been released.

It’s unclear whether the man was climbing the peak or descending. He was hiking with a family member.
