Dumb HOV decisions
Dear Editor:Hi there. Thank you for putting the poll in the paper regarding the HOV lanes [actually, it’s on our website]. I think it’s interesting to see that the majority is for getting rid of them. It would be nice if the government would listen to the people and do just that. Thank God I’m not commuting anymore, but when I was, I was one of the “transgressors,” nervously, watching for police as I whisked by the “sheep” who were following this ridiculous rule! From the very beginning, I thought this was the stupidest thing I’d ever heard of. We, as taxpayers, paid for this four-laning, and now you tell us we can’t use it? Give me a break! The four-lane was supposed to help, not hinder, traffic, and, you bottleneck everything when you need it the most – during rush hour. This makes no sense whatsoever. Once again, instead of punishing people (which is dysfunctional), why don’t we educate and encourage people for alternate forms of transportation and carpooling. I know I do so when I can, but if I can’t, I don’t want to be penalized for it. And, putting in a carpool lane only works when there are more than two lanes total!Who’s making these dumb decisions anyway?Michelle WagnerGlenwood Springs
