ASPEN – The Dukes of September, a group led by singers Donald Fagen, Boz Scaggs and Michael McDonald, will open the Jazz Aspen Snowmass June Festival on June 22, at the Benedict Music Tent. Fagen is best known for his work with Steely Dan, which appeared at last summer’s Jazz Aspen Labor Day Festival. Scaggs had hits in the ’70s, including “Lowdown” and “Lido.” McDonald recorded with Steely Dan and was a member of the Doobie Brothers before becoming a solo artist.

Jazz Aspen previously had announced the other headliners for the festival: British-born rock singer Joe Cocker, who will perform on June 23; and singer k.d. lang, making her Jazz Aspen debut on June 24.

The 21st annual June Festival will also include a series of small-venue jazz shows at the JAS Cafe Downstairs@the Little Nell, June 29 to 30 and July 5 to 6; and a concert by trumpeter Chris Botti, July 7 at the Music Tent, presented in association with the Aspen Music Festival.

Tickets for the June 22 to 24 shows go on sale March 19 at 866-JAS-TIXX (527-8499), online at jazzaspensnowmass.org, or at the Belly Up box office. Tickets for shows at the JAS Cafe also go on sale March 19, and are available at 866-JAS-TIXX or at jazzaspensnowmass.org.
