Down-home Louis Vuitton

Dear Editor: I am dismayed – nay, stunned – to learn that Louis Vuitton is moving (Aspen Times, Jan. 7). In the old days, I took comfort in the knowledge that any time I needed a piece of luggage, I could walk right down the block. Voila! It was all so simple. Now it seems that Aspen has changed to the degree that nothing is sacred. I have just learned that my beloved suitcase shop is moving to the upper west side (Mill Street, to the old-timers). I don’t need a Christian Dior, but I do need my down-home Louis Vuitton. This is just another egregious example of the “gentrification” of Aspen, in which our beloved mom-and-pops are being crushed beneath the heels of corporate greed. In protest, I will for the next six months patronize only locally owned real estate shops. With dignity intact, Tracy WynnAspen
