Double standard?

Dear Editor:

On the front page of the Aug. 3 Aspen Times I saw that Charlie Sheen got no jail time for his criminal behavior and the Anderson Ranch embezzler got a four-year term for her white-collar crime.

I am not belittling the crime by Ms. Howell against Anderson Ranch, but isn’t a knife to the throat and the threats of death a little more deserving of a greater sentence? If Mr. Sheen was just a regular guy he would not have been able to reach the judge by phone on Christmas Day and he would have had to spend a lot of time in jail for his crime.

I guess it pays to be a famous, rich, alcoholic drug addict in our society.
