Don’t ignore wisdom, for cliches

Dear Editor:

Look before you leap. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Never take candy from strangers. Nothing in life is free. Consider the cost. Temptation is a lure that ensnares you. Judge a man, not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character. Popularity is a vapor, character is what remains. Character is what you do when no one is watching.

These, most would agree, are words of wisdom.

The privacy of your ballot gives you a moment to quiet the voices of the crowds and the media. Take this opportunity, when no one is looking, to speak your own voice and vote in harmony with your own conscience. We ignore wisdom at our own peril, and if heeding wisdom makes one candidate more obvious to you, I rest my case.
