Don’t forget about Joan

Dear Editor:We were once long-term residents of Aspen and just recently, the article from the Times reporting the 50th anniversary gala night at the Crystal Palace reached me (“Silver anniversary crystallizes 50 rowdy years,” July 10).It sounded like a great evening. As the world knows and as your article mentioned more than once, Mead Metcalf is thebrain behind the genius and success of the Palace. But I do not understand how you could write an entire article on the Palace and not mention the fact that Joan Metcalf was the heart and soul of the operation. It was she who brought magic to the Crystal Palace.Had it been done properly, the evening should have ended with someone in the audience standing and singing “Helloooo, Joanie.” The entire house would have joined in.Donald F McCannScottsdale, Ariz.
