Don’t bet a vacation on it

Regarding United Airlines’ statement about increasing flights to Aspen this winter: Nov. 17 is a very important day this year for United Airlines, and it’s not their birthday! It’s the day that United must pay some rather large bills they owe with money that they don’t have, and another large payment on debt is due in December.

So, I was surprised to see that United Airlines was planning on increasing flights to Aspen this winter. Personally, I don’t think I would bet my vacation on United Airlines’ uncertain future.

Because, if they file for bankruptcy protection and you’re holding one of their now worthless tickets, the announcement you may be hearing is take a number and get in line, not that your flight is ready for boarding.
