Donald ‘Buzz’ Conrad Jr.

Aspen, CO Colorado

Donald “Buzz” Conrad Jr. passed away April 18, 2010 from a recurring illness at age 61. Buzz leaves behind one sister, Jeanette, and her husband, Ben, from North Carolina; niece Tricia from New Hampshire; and niece Beth from Missouri.

Buzz graduated from Syracuse University in 1971, and then headed west. After a short stay in New Mexico, Buzz moved to the Fryingpan Valley, where he resided for 40 years. Buzz worked in the logging industry at Larsons Mill, where he became a proficient sawyer and was never happier than when running the draft horses.

Buzz then moved to the construction industry, working on the Fryingpan-Arkansas water diversion projects. Buzz was responsible for operating the cable way, which was the longest spanning of its time.

Buzz also worked for Myers and Co. and Mineo and Associates.

He always had a smile and kind word for everyone and was devoted to his dogs. Buzz knew the name and lineage of more valley dogs than anyone.

An announcement is pending concerning an early summer celebration of Buzz’s life. Contributions can be made to the charity of your choice in his name.
