Dollar-wise, health-wise

Dear Editor:I am proud to view the annual Men’s Fitness report of the fittest cities in America. Two of the top five fittest cities are in Colorado, (namely, Denver and Colorado Springs). The ratings are based on many factors that reflect the health-consciousness of the community.I encourage folks here in the Roaring Fork Valley to also recognize this connection between local business and the health of the community it serves. Before you spend each hard-earned dollar, consider these simple thoughts and practices:Am I giving my money to people who know me and care about my physical and spiritual well-being? Can I buy this same product, or service, from a company that is owned by someone local, such as a neighbor? Does this company promote the physical and spiritual well-being of this community? There are many ways to demonstrate the health of our community. When we make the connections between healthy people and healthy businesses, our whole community benefits and we begin to care for each other from a higher-powered level!Wishing you amazing health, Nina SchnipperBasalt
