Discussion resumes on backcountry uses

Aspen Times Staff Report

The next meeting of the Richmond Ridge/Pearl Pass planning group will be Monday from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Senior Center, next to Aspen Valley Hospital.

The agenda includes discussion of summer-recreational-use issues.

Topics discussed at last month’s meeting will be reviewed, as well. They include limiting commercial-use permits for the area, data on the volume of summer use, and proposed motorcycle events.

Also of interest, on March 23, the Pitkin County commissioners will be reviewing the Aspen Skiing Co.’s construction plans for Aspen Mountain and plans to build a new Sundeck this summer.

For more information, call Ellen Sassano (Pitkin County) at 920-5098 or Paula Cote (U.S. Forest Service) at 945-3314.
